  17.    1. Let the Magician, robed and armed as he may dee to be
  18.       fit, turn his face towards Boleskine, that is the House of The Beast
  19.       666. {Note 1: Boleskine House is on Loch Ness, 17 miles from Inverness,
  20.       Latitude 57.14 N.  Longitude 4.28 W.}
  21.    2. Let him strike the battery 1-3-3-3-1.
  22.    3. Let him put the Thumb of his right hand between its index
  23.       an medius, and make the gestures hereafter following.

  25.  The Vertical Component of the Enchantment.
  26.    1. Let him describe a circle about his head, crying NUIT!
  27.    2. Let him draw the Thumb vertically downward and touch
  28.       the Muladhara Cakkra, crying, HADIT!
  29.    3. Let him, retracing the line, touch the centre of his breast
  30.       an cry RA-HOOR-KHUIT!

  32.  The Horizontal Components of the Enchantment.
  33.    1. Let him touch the Centre of his Forehead, his mouth, and
  34.       his larynx, crying AIWAZ!
  35.    2. Let him draw his thumb from right to left across his face
  36.       at the level of the nostrils.
  37.    3. Let him touch the centre of his breast, and his solar plexus,
  38.       crying, THERION!
  39.    4. Let him draw his thumb from left to right across his breast,
  40.       at the level of the sternum.
  41.    5. Let him touch the Svadistthana, and the Muladhara Chakkra,
  42.       crying, BABALON!
  43.    6. Let him draw his thumb from right to left across his
  44.       abdomen, at the level of the hips.
  45.  (Thus shall he formulate the Sigil of the Grand Hierophant, but dependent
  46.   from the Circle.)

  48.  The Asseveration of the Spells.
  49.    1. Let the Magician clasp his hands upon his Wand, his fingers
  50.       and thumbs interlaced, crying LAtSAL! EHMA!
  51.       FIAOF! AAPH! AUMN!
  52.    (Thus shall be declared the Words of Power whereby the
  53.    Energies of the Aeon of Horus work his will in the World.)

  55.  The Proclamation of the Accomplishment.
  56.    1. Let the Magician strike the Battery: 3-5-3, crying
  57.        ABRAHADABRA.

  59.                         The SECOND GESTURE.

  61.  The Enchantment.
  62.    1. Let the Magician, still facing Boleskine, advance to the
  63.       circumference of his circle.
  64.    2. Let him turn himself towards the left, and pace with the
  65.       stealth and swiftness of a tiger the precincts of his circle,
  66.       until he complete one revolution thereof.
  67.    3. Let him give the Sign of Horus (or The Enterer) as he
  68.       passeth, so to project the force that radiateth from Boleskine
  69.       before him.
  70.    4. Let him pace his path until he comes to the North; there
  71.       let him halt, and turn his face to the North.
  72.    5. Let him trace with his wand the Averse Pentagram proper
  73.       to invoke Air (Aquarius).
  74.    6. Let him bring the wand to the centre of the Pentagram and
  75.       call upon NUIT!
  76.    7. Let him make the sign called Puella, standing with his
  77.       feet together, head bowed, his left hand shielding the
  78.       Muladhara Cakkra, and his right hand shielding his
  79.       breast (attitude of the Venus de Medici).
  80.    8. Let him turn again to the left, and pursue his Path as
  81.       before, projecting the force from Boleskine as he passeth;
  82.       let him halt when he next cometh to the South and face
  83.       outward.
  84.    9. Let him trace the Averse Pentagram that invoketh Fire
  85.       (Leo).
  86.   10. Let him point his wand to the centre of the Pentagram,
  87.       and cry, HADIT!
  88.   11. Let him give the sign Puer, standing with feet together,
  89.       and head erect.  Let his right hand (the thumb extended
  90.       at right angles to the fingers) be raised, the forearm
  91.       vertical at a right angle with the upper arm, which is
  92.       horizontally extended in the line joining the shoulders.
  93.       Let his left hand, the thumb extended forwards and the
  94.       fingers clenched, rest at the junction of the thighs (Attitude
  95.       of the gods Mentu, Khem, etc.).
  96.   12. Let him proceed as before; then in the East, let him make
  97.       the Averse Pentagram that invoketh Earth (Taurus).
  98.   13. Let him point his wand to the centre of the pentagram,
  99.       and cry, THERION!
  100.   14. Let him give the sign called Vir, the feet being together.
  101.       The hands, with clenched finger and thumbs thrust out
  102.       forwards, are held to the temples; the head is then bowed
  103.       and pushed out, as if to symbolize the butting of an horned
  104.       beast (attitude of Pan, Bacchus, etc.).  (Frontispiece,
  105.       Equinox I, III).
  106.   15. Proceeding as before, let him make in the West the
  107.       Averse Pentagram whereby Water is invoked.
  108.   16. Pointing the wand to the centre of the Pentagram, let him
  109.       call upon BABALON!!
  110.   17. Let him give the sign Mulier.  The feet are widely
  111.       separated, and the arms raised so as to suggest a crescent.
  112.       The head is thrown back (attitude of Baphomet, Isis in
  113.       Welcome, the Microcosm of Vitruvius).  (See Book 4,
  114.       Part II).
  115.   18. Let him break into the dance, tracing a centripetal spiral
  116.       widdershins, enriched by revolutions upon his axis as he
  117.       passeth each quarter, until he come to the centre of the
  118.       circle.  There let him halt, facing Boleskine.
  119.   19. Let him raise the wand, trace the Mark of the Beast, and
  120.       cry AIWAZ!
  121.   20. Let him trace the invoking Hexagram of The Beast.
  122.   21. Let him lower the wand, striking the Earth therewith.
  123.   22. Let him give the sign of Mater Triumphans (The feet are
  124.       together; the left arm is curved as if it supported a child;
  125.       the thumb and index finger of the right hand pinch the
  126.       nipple of the left breast, as if offering it to that child).
  127.       Let him utter the word EHMA!
  128.   23. Perform the spiral dance, moving deosil and whirling
  129.       widdershins.
  130.       Each time on passing the West extend the wand to the
  131.       Quarter in question, and bow:
  132.  a. "Before me the powers of LA!" (AL, to West.)
  133.  b. "Behind me the powers of AL!" (LA, to East.)
  134.  c. "On my right hand the powers of LA!" (AL, to North.)
  135.  d. "On my left hand the powers of AL!" (LA, to South.)
  136.  e. "Above me the powers of ShT!" (tS, leaping in the air.)
  137.  f. "Beneath me the powers of ShT!" (tS, striking the ground.)
  138.  g. "Within me the Powers!" (in the attitude of Phthah erect, the
  139.         feet together, the hands clasped upon the vertical wand.)
  140.  h. "About me flames my Father's face, the Star of Force and
  141.         Fire."
  142.  i. "And in the Column stands His six-rayed Splendour!"
  143.     (This dance may be omitted, and the whole utterance chanted in
  144.  the attitude of Phthah.)
